Alex Hansen, founder and CEO of Merchant Tech, was a software engineer before he was a merchant. After starting an ecommerce business in 2021, he was disappointed by the platforms available. Fulfilling orders wasn't simple. Shipping options were limited. Features he assumed were included required an upgrade. And the answer to every problem was handing over more money.
He worked around it for years, but nothing in the market improved. In 2025, he assembled a team and built the prototype that became Merchant Tech. After migrating his own store to the new platform, he found it was everything he'd been missing.
Today, Merchant Tech serves small businesses across all kinds of industries. But the founding principles still guide everything we build: give merchants the features they actually need, and save them time and money with better tools at transparent prices. We work closely with our customers to build what's missing, and we back it with hands-on support.
